Preserving
Open Space and Our Natural Resources
“America
deserves a Congress that is on its side, not one that is in bed with the
people who create dirty air and water. We
need a representative in Washington with the experience and the commitment to
ensure that we protect our natural habitats.”
- Maryanne Connelly
Controlling
Urban Sprawl.
Many communities face the challenge of urban sprawl.
As Northern New Jersey’s population continues to grow, preserving
open space will become more and more important.
Maryanne Connelly is committed to preserving the area’s open spaces
into the 21st Century. She
supports the creation of tax incentives that will encourage local governments
to contain and limit urban sprawl with common sense growth solutions.
Maryanne will also vote to ensure that the Land and Water Conservation
Fund is fully funded in next year’s budget process. Finally, Plainfield and New Jersey’s other cities would
benefit from Maryanne’s strong commitment to Brownfield Redevelopment.
Improving
the Air We Breathe.
Maryanne wants the air that our children breathe to be as clean as possible.
That’s why she wants to take on the corporate polluters and make sure that
they pay when they destroy an ecosystem.
Providing
Clean Water.
Since 1994, Congress has routinely tried to weaken the Clean Water and
the Safe Drinking Water Acts. Not
only will Maryanne vote to reauthorize the Acts, she will fight to ensure that
they are fully funded. The
government must put its money where its mouth is, if it is to provide clean
water for all. Maryanne firmly opposes industry self-regulation.
